4-18-09 Showstoppers....Group

Today the girls danced early which meant we had to be up really early putting on makeup and getting ready to leave. As I was putting Emma's makeup on, she decided to have a meltdown. At this point I had only 3 hours of sleep and was looking at taking all her makeup off and starting over. There was no time...I fixed it as best I could and we left. We got to the Stafford center and joined the others when I realized that I left her hair bows and shoe bows at home!!! What a nightmare! Could this day have started out any worse? Any way we fixed the problem and the day started to look brighter. The girls played games while waiting to dance...no nerves with this bunch! They danced well. They got first place and third overall...whoo hoo!

4-17-09 Showstoppers....solo

After kindergarten round-up, we took Emma out of school early because she had solo competition at 4:30 in Stafford. Kim wanted us there by 3pm so they could practice. Emma danced great...as always. She won first place platinum and second overall again. She's so close to first place overall. Anyway she had a good time and that's all that counts. Zoe and Sommer did very well, also. They're all so adorable.

4-17-09 Kindergarten round-up

Today we register Hannah for kindergarten. Our baby is in real school now. We went prepared with all our paperwork filled out...can you say "anal". Hannah seemed a little nervous but excited at the same time. The kindergarteners put on a little show for the new ones. It was adorable. They sang a couple of songs. Funny to see how far they have come in a year. Emma, of course, was on stage again so she was loving it! Hannah saw some familiar faces. A couple of the children in her pre-k class will be at Benignus in the fall, too.

4-17-09 Mom's Birthday

Today is mom's birthday. We have such a busy day that we will celebrate on Sunday. She'll get to pick where she wants to have her birthday dinner. I'm guessing she'll pick Gringo's.

4-13-09 Level 2 team meeting

Tonight we had a meeting with Hannah's gymnastics coach. She gave us the ins and outs of being a team parent and what to expect. We have to join the booster club which is a good thing because they pay for 70% of the costs. Whew!! We just have to donate some of our time...which is slowly being whittled down to nothing. Hannah also was fitted for her team leotard and warm ups! From what I can tell, they are adorable....black velvet leotard with purple, pink and neon green accents with a matching ponytail holder and the warm-ups coordinate with the leotard. Hannah's excited. She will compete August thru November with a nationals.

4-12-09 Easter Sunday

The weather was predicted to be bad today....thunderstorms all day...so we hunted easter eggs yesterday to be on the safe side. We got up this morning and went to church. The girls got all dressed up in their finest. We barely beat the weather after leaving church. The sky fell!!!! The Easter bunny left the girls all kinds of good stuff. Danny cooked a seafood smorgasbord and it was wonderful. Later in the day the sun did come out and it was a beautiful day. Brooke came over and the girls hunted eggs again. It was a wonderful day.

Saturday 4-11-09 Easter festivities

We had tons of stuff to do today. The girls did some scrapbooking this morning. I'm actually making a quilt...my first! Hope it looks ok!!! I'm going to cheat the first time and use my sewing machine. Mrs. Williams, Emma's kindergarten teacher, birthday is on Monday so Emma wanted to do something special for her. So, we made her some bath salts, hand lotion, body scrub and bath gel....vanilla and lavender. It turned out nice. We made bows and put in everything in a cute basket....I think she'll love it! Then, we colored eggs. The girls had a blast. We bar-be-qued for dinner and afterwards the girls hunted their eggs. It was too much fun!!! Tommorrow, the neighbors will be over.

Friday April 10.....Good Friday

Today was a "Good" day! We had a really hectic day planned for us! We pretty much ran the streets getting the girls to all their extracurriculars! Hannah did awesome at her private with Selinda. She has mastered 2 more skills...her front circle hip on the bars and handstand on the beam. She is so good...I know moms are biased but she really is! Selinda has her working on level 3 and 4 skills because she has mastered everything in her current level! Future olympian!!!! Then we're off to Emma's private with Kim. They are polishing the routine now. We want her to win a first place overall. Now, we are back to gym for Hannah's level 2 class. Just practice for her. Emma has tumbling and AJDC rehearsal soon. Whew, the day is almost over. We have 2 competitions over the next 2 weeks, then recital, then junior olympics, then another competition then AJDC show and finally our vacation. I think Kim might be entertaining a National's competition, too!

Sunday 4-5-09....Gorgeous Bluebonnets

Danny and I decided to take the girls on a little roadtrip. We got on the road early this morning and drove up toward Brenham. We could tell as we got closer because there were more and more fields of bluebonnets. Totally gorgeous. The flowers were just packed in on top of each other. The girls, of course, love posing for pics so they were the "hams" for the day. The indian paint brush mixed in with the bluebonnets just made a beautiful landscape. It was an awesome weather day...sunny and cool! We all ended up getting a little bit of sun. We stopped at lunchtime and had a picnic. I packed sandwiches, chips and snacks. That was fun. On the way back to Houston, we stopped at the BlueBell creameries and took some pics. We drove through historic downtown Brenham and found an ice cream shop that sold blue bell...so that was a highlight of the day, too. It was a wonderful memory day and I can't wait to scrapbook.

Saturday 4-4-09....Dinner with the neighbors

We had dinner with our neighbors....Jimmy, Danielle and Brooke. They had us over for burgers and hotdogs. Jimmy went all out. He cooked all day...Danielle had to work. He made bar-be-que baked beans that he added brisket to and he made rosemary potatoes. I have to admit it was pretty darn good. I took my 7 layer dip and several desserts (cheesecake, tiramisu and chocolate cake)...all homemade, of course! We had a good time. She fired up the marguerita machine and we had a few. It was a beautiful evening so we sat by the pool. I think it's consensus that next bar-be-que is surf and turf....filet mignon, lobster tail and shrimp...can't wait. Of course, the girls had a good time playing.
