3-29-09...Maw Maw Vincent's service

We drove to Louisiana for Maw Maw's service on Sunday. It was very nice. Alot of the family was there...what's left of it. It's too bad it takes something like this to get everyone together. We didn't stay long. We had a long trip back to Houston. It was really good to see Alexandra, Trevor, Hunter, Blake and Brett. They're getting so big...makes me feel old. Alexandra just turned 14...I was there when she was born!!!! Danny and I had been dating about a year and half.

3-21-09 Michael's birthday weekend

We headed to Baton Rouge on Friday. This weekend we are celebrating Michael's 8th birthday. He's having a skating party. The girl's are really excited...they like birthday parties and are looking forward to learning how to skate. They did well on their skates...Emma picked it up a little quicker than Hannah did. Hannah likes to race...do things quickly...so her feet were constantly coming out from under her. She still had fun, though. At the rink, there was a rock climbing wall and laser tag. So there was something for everyone to do. Emma, Hannah and Sarah put on several runway shows and talent shows throughout the weekend. They really enjoyed each others company. On Sunday, we went to the Evans' to see their new house. It was nice. We had lunch. They have alot of work ahead of them unpacking. We wish them well in Louisiana. Pics to come.

Sunday March 15th.....Houston Zoo

We went to the Houston Zoo today with Nanny, Parrain, Michael and Sarah and Mom and Dad. Emma danced early and awards were later in the afternoon so we decided to have a little fun. It had actually quit raining and was not as cold as it had been. Halfway through our visit it started rain and luckily we were not too far from shelter. The kids had a good time. We spent a couple of hours which was enough. We went to Fuddruckers for lunch and sat around and chit chatted. It was nice.

kiss, kiss!!!! hugs, hugs!!!!

My David Story.....

Saturday evening we had some people over after Hannah's party... the usual suspects, Brian, Rachel and the kids and later some neighbors came over. Well I was cleaning up the kitchen and Rachel and I were talking...I decided I needed to sweep my kitchen floor. So I get the broom out of the closet and realize...oh my gosh, this is the broom David bought me at Sam's. I had admired his broom one day and was complaining about the one I had and he said he would pick me one up. Sure enough, David comes by the house with this broom!!!! It hit me yesterday!!!! One of my special stories of David. Miss ya, dude!!!

Sunday March 15th...Onstage New York

Today Emma had a dance competition...bright and early...maybe not so bright....we were up at 5am putting on stage makeup!!! The competition was held at The Cullen Center on University of Houston main campus. This was a really nice competition. Emma did wonderful...she placed platinum first place and second overall this week. Each week she gets more confident and it shows. Zoe placed gold....way to go! Emma got a special treat this weekend her Nanny and Parrain were able to see her compete. They had the best time. Way to go my sweetie....keep up the great dancing!

Saturday March 14th....Happy Birthday Hannah

Today is Hannah's birthday.....Happy Birthday My Sweetie!!!!! I was up early to pick up her birthday cake....tinkerbell theme. Dad made breakfast for everyone. We got everyone fed and dressed and rushed out to Pump-It-Up. She had friends waiting on her when we arrived. She was tickled pink. They played for 1 1/2 hours and then we went to the party room for pizza and cake. They all had a blast. Most of them worn out and ready for naps. We opened presents at home and she got lots of nice gifts. This was a barbie year....just what she asked for!!! Later, some of her friends came over and they played a bit longer. She had a great day. Now I need to get Hannah and Emma to the photographer for birthday pictures!!!!

Friday March 13 Hannah's birthday weekend begins

Today is Friday the 13th....I'm trying to not be so superstitious. Nanny Kerry, Parrain Rob, Michael and Sarah are coming in to town to celebrate Hannah's birthday. She is so excited....mostly she's worried we'll make her go to bed before they get here. She's also excited about her birthday party which she decided was going to be at Pump-It-Up. All of her friends have RSVP'd and we are expecting 17 children!! Hannah is turning five....my baby is growing up!

The loss of our friend, David McKay

I wish this was not the way my first blog entry would begin. But on March 1, we lost a very dear friend to cancer. It happened very fast and unexpectedly. I guess that's why we feel we need to wake up from this very bad dream. Only, it's very real. We have known and loved David, Emily and Grant for 7 years now. It feels like we've known them for a lifetime. We were neighbors for 5 years and continued our friendship as we all moved on with life. Our lives belonged to each other. There are so many memories...birthdays, birth of our children, bar-be-ques, dinners, vacations together, hugs after a bad week, meetings in the street after work because our lives were so busy we took that moment!!! I miss David terribly!!! David could always make me laugh. We were usually on the same wavelength...something I think us fellow virgoans have in common. We get each other. David and I always sat together at our dinners at THE Melting Pot. We liked and disliked the same foods. It was a little joke at out get togethers. David, I know you're in good place now!!! I will miss you!
